New boards installed at agriculture agencies

Several entities in the agriculture sector have had new boards of directors installed.

In a press release Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud said Cabinet has approved the new boards which were installed on August 1 and will be in force until December 31, 2008. The ministry said at the Guyana Sugar Corporation Ronald Alli was appointed chairman with supporting members Keith Burrowes, Donald Ramotar, Dr Dindyal Permaul, Badrie Persaud, Errol Hanoman, Nick Jackson, Roger Speedy and Dr Raj Singh.

Permaul was also appointed chairman at the Guyana Rice Development Board. He is being supported by members Jagnarine Singh, Shirley Edwards, Dharamkumar Seeraj, Ramsahai Ramnarain, Leeka Rambirch, Peter DeGroot, Savitri Sukhai, Pariag Sukhai and Mohamed Sattaur.

Seeraj is also a board member at the Mahaica/Mahaicony/Abary
-Agricultural Development Authority, which is headed by Chairman Rudolph Gajraj and comprises members Aubrey Charles, Paul Sarran, Harrinarine Baldeo, Walter Willis, Dr Dwight Walrond, Andrew Bishop, L Bissoon, George Howard and Bernadette Peterkin. Willis was appointed chairman at the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority and he is supported by members Seeraj, Gajraj, Rambirch, Baldeo, Permaul, Desmond Pitt, Hemraj Ragnauth, Alli Baksh, Oliver Faerber, Clement Corlette, Zulfikar Mustapha, Mortimer Mingo, Dr Harold Davis, Ravi Narine, Lionel Wordsworth, Andrew Bishop, Cecil Seepersaud, Baleka Seulall and Tarachand Balgobin.

At the Guyana Forestry Commission Balgobin was installed as chairman. The board also comprises Bishop, Vanessa Benn, James Singh, Dr Patrick Chesney, Ovid Williams, Prema Ramanah, Khalid Alladin and Peter Ramotar. Geoffrey DaSilva heads the New Guyana Marketing Corporation board, along with members Vilma DaSilva, Ramsay Ali, Deodat Doodnauth, Dr Oudho Homenauth, Nizam Hassan, Dr Leslie Chin, Brian Sears, Komal Samaroo, Rajendra Singh and Victor Pires.
