His ideas could have helped the timber industry

His ideas could have helped the timber industry

Dear Editor,

It is so sad to read what Kelly Simon had to go through for so many
years and in the end had to leave. This gentleman I met just after he
arrived in Guyana to explore the possibility of modernising the timber
industry with his modern inputs. He was interested in the general well
being of the stakeholders in the timber industry. We met at the Pegasus
hotel and had long discussions on the timber industry and its woes. He
has excellent ideas that would have changed the picture . However, the
government made things next to impossible and after several years of
frustration he has left for Brazil.

The current stakeholders are not interested in modern methods that will
enhance quality/production. I wish Kelly good tidings in Brazil. This
is just one of the many who had to leave.

Yours faithfully,

Vijay Singh
