Dear Editor,

We, the residents of Lusignan West, East Coast Demerara, would like to
call on the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs Mr Clement Rohee for
his further assistance in an ongoing noise nuisance matter emanating
from furniture manufacturers in our community.

We would like to make reference to a notice from the Ministry of Home
Affairs dated June 27, 2007 which was published on a daily basis in the
newspapers. The notice states that our complaint of noise nuisance is
valid and the Minister further informs the C Division to take
appropriate action to ensure that no further noise should emanate from
these furniture manufacturers.

However, we made contact with the C Division (Cove & John) who diverted
our calls to the Vigilance Police Station. Upon making several calls to
the Vigilance Police Station about the continuous noise from these
furniture manufacturers, we were told by a police officer that he can't
do anything about the noise nuisance and promptly asked what else
should we expect from a furniture business if not noise.

We then made reference to the notice published by the Ministry of Home
Affairs and the officer promptly told us that they are not aware of
such a notice and they cannot do anything about this matter.

Mr Minister, we are decent tax paying citizens and are appealing for
your intervention into this matter.

We thank you for your prompt response by placing such a notice
acknowledging the validity of our complaint and would appreciate your
immediate intervention.

Yours faithfully,

Deoraj Ganesh for the residents
