Guyana’s fight against climate change
Guyana Chronicle, 8 December 2008
Under the leadership of President Bharrat Jagdeo, Guyana has stepped
out as a country committed to fighting the battle against Climate
Change. President Jagdeo has recognized the importance of the harmful
effects of climate change in our world.
In Guyana, there has been political and legislative oversight to ensure
that Guyana’s rainforest is preserved and that there are careful
deforestation mechanisms in place.
Internationally, President Jagdeo has been vocal on the need for
developed countries to place climate change as a priority, and proposed
the need for developed and developing countries to cooperate in the
ongoing fight against climate change.
