FARMERS in Pomeroon have reported that hundreds of wild parrots are
destroying their carambola cultivations.
They said the birds migrated there from the deep interior because of
the many mining activities and construction of the roadway from Buck
Hall on Essequibo Coast to Port Kaituma, North West District.
The complaint was raised at the December 2007 Regional Democratic
Council (RDC) meeting and Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo said the
matter will be discussed with top agriculture officers who can devise a
plan to save the fruits from destruction.
