THE Government, through the Guyana Micro Project Programme, has started
rehabilitating the Tapakuma Agro-Processing Unit.
A release, from the Regional Administration in Region Two
(Pomeroon/Supenaam), said $11.9M is currently being spent on upgrading
it into a modern facility.
It is expected that, when the factory resumes operations, scores of
residents from the Amerindian community where it is situated will get
employment.
Meanwhile, Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Company Limited (GT&T) has
installed telephones in the other Amerindian communities of Tapakuma,
Mashabo and St. Monica.
