Agri sector hierarchy restructured
…Willis replaces Narine at helm of NDIA

The Agriculture sector this week saw a significant shake up within the
hierarchy of its various boards of Directors that were approved by
Cabinet.

The new Directors will hold their designations until December 31, 2008.

One such sector includes the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) whose
chairman is now Tarachand Balgobin.

Commissioner James Singh remains a member of the board along with
Patrick Chesney, Andrew Bishop, Ovid Williams, Prema Ramanah, Khalid
Alladin and Peter Williams.

Walter Willis replaces Ravi Narine as chairman of the Board as The
National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA).

Some of the members of NDIA board of directors now include, Rudolph
Gajraj, Desmond Pitt, Hemraj Ragnauth, Dharamkumar Seeraj, Leeka
Rambirch,, Alli Baksh, Oliver Faeber, Clement Corlette, Zulfikar
Mustapha and Lionel Wordsworth.

Meanwhile, Chairman of GO-INVEST, Geoffrey Da Silva is now also at the
helm of the New Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC).

The board now includes Nizam Hassan, Dr. Oudho Homenauth, Vilma Da
Silva, Deodat Doodnauth and Dr. Leslie Chin among others.

National Agricultural Research Institute's (NARI) board is now headed
by Dr. John Caesar with support coming from, Dr. Oudho Homenauth, Dr.
Elizabeth Ramlall, Dr. T. M. Velloza, Dr. Suresh Narine and Major
General (Rtd.) Joe Singh among others.

Chairman of the board at the Guyana School of Agriculture is Rudolph
Gajraj with Steve Surujbally on the Board of directors.

Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals' will have as its chairman Dr. Leslie
Monroe with support coming from Dr. Dindyal Permaul, permanent
secretary of the Agriculture Ministry.
