Wrongful dismissal

Wrongful dismissal

MY son and I were wrongfully dismissed by the Management of Rich
Resources
Inc at its sawmilling operations in Supenaam where we were both
employed as
carpenters on a day work system.
I was employed there for the past two and a half years and my son for
just
over two years.
During this time, we were not even warned of any wrong doing and to
terminate our services at this time of the year for no just cause or
without
giving a cause is very much unfair to us.
At the end of the year, we would usually get a bonus, but in the present
situation, we have been denied of such a benefit with the amount to be
paid
remaining with the company.
We were fortnightly paid workers and from the dismissal letter we were
paid
for only two days.
There is also irregularity with NIS deductions from which no benefit was
derived by us.
This is a clear case of our rights being trampled upon as workers and
those
in authority should look into it so that this kind of injustice would
not be
allowed to continue.
> From my understanding, the dismissal letter should have been served on
> us
two weeks in advance and that we are entitled to two weeks pay and not
two
days.
It is also my belief that we were also entitled to severance pay for the
time we were employed there.
We were surprised to be served with the dismissal letters just like that
around 3 pm on October 31, 2007. Our understanding is that this should
have
been done two weeks in advance from that day.
