Precision Woodworking Guyana

A case study

Precision Woodworking of Guyana has manufactured garden furniture for John Lewis for more than 9 years and was one of the first suppliers to be audited against our policy.

By visiting Guyana we were able to understand local sourcing practices, and observe the benefits of sourcing from forests in transition to certification.

Although there are currently no FSC-certified forests in Guyana, the programme undertaken by Precision has improved forest management practices and has enabled Precision to trace timber origin back to stump. Through our continued support we hope that it is only a matter of time before Precision manufactures the first FSC-certified garden furniture in Guyana.
